Things To Do

In 1994 Mead Open Farm opened as a children’s farm and has been welcoming visitors for family days out ever since. Our team continually invests in new attractions, organises special events and adds new visitor facilities.

Mead Open Farm was one of the first Open Farms in Bedfordshire. It spans 30 acres and is home to farmyard animals large and small. On your day out, you’ll meet sheep, cows and pigs, as well as goats, rabbits and ponies. We also have a small flock of ducks on our duckpond and hens in our henhouse. We’re also home to some more unusual large animals such as alpacas.

We want families to have a full day of fun, entertainment and education when they visit us at Mead Open Farm.

Fun & Play

In the last few years we have added more things to do inside and out. As well as all the animal activities, there are loads of fun things to do from Go-Karts and Crazy Golf to sand play in Digger Village and Shaggy’s Cove as well as swings, slides and climbing frames in the huge indoor Shaggy’s PlayWorld and Topsy Turvy Towers outdoor adventure playground.

Learn About the Animals

The Farm offers children the opportunity to see, learn about and interact with farm animals through activities such as hand-feeding sheep and goats, grooming ponies and stroking rabbits.

Special Events

Mead Open Farm holds regular special seasonal events throughout the year such as Lambing is Back, Easter, Dino Week, Summer Festival of Fun, Freaky FunFest and The Magic Of Christmas.
