We’ve been welcoming school trips and group visits for over twenty years. We cater for groups visiting from pre-schools and nurseries as well as primary and secondary schools.

We are easily reachable for days out from all over Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Our Farmyard Experience package offers a day of discovery and fun, with activities for children of all ages.

School Prices and Experiences

Getting close to animals is a magical and memorable experience for all young children. The Farmyard Experience is great for all ages from toddlers to early teens – giving children of all ages the opportunity to stroke rabbits at Bunny Hop, hand-feed goats and sheep, and enjoy a dedicated Tractor & Trailer Ride* (April to October half term, weather permitting).

Minimum of 20 paying children per schools visit. School visits follow the Central Bedfordshire term times only. School visits must be pre-booked.

  • Lots of farm animals to meet and animal feed for the children to share.
  • An allocated time for Bunny Hop and Pony Grooming sessions.
  • Bottle feed lambs from the Easter Holidays to the end of the Summer Holidays.
  • A Tractor & Trailer Ride* for your group.
  • Outdoor play, including adventure log play, jumping pillows, sand and water play, go-karts and JCB Digger Village.
  • Indoor soft play.
  • An indoor picnic room, as well as outdoor picnic areas.
  • Coach and car parking.
  • Free planning visit for trip organisers to carry out risk assessments.
  • A downloadable risk assessment form to assist you in drawing up your own risk assessment.

In between or after the scheduled activities in the Farmyard Experience, there’ll be plenty of time to discover all the other fun things to do at Mead Open Farm. From running, jumping, sliding and swinging in Shaggy’s huge indoor PlayWorld and Topsy Turvy Towers outdoor adventure playground, to learning about lots of different animals.

Experience the best of Mead Open Farm on your group visit. Enjoy all of outdoor and indoor play, plus take part in our animal activities like our popular Bunny Hop or Lamb Bottle Feeding (from the Easter Holidays to the end of the Summer Holidays).

Booking Essentials

  • School and group visits to Mead Open Farm must be booked online in advance. You can either pay upfront today or, you will need to pay a £100 non-refundable deposit today and the remaining balance 14 days before your visit via invoice.
  • No worries if your numbers change, just let us know and we can adjust your booking accordingly.

  • Group leaders and teachers can visit Mead Open Farm prior to their visit to complete their own risk assessment.
  • Please read our Plan Your Visit and Health & Safety Information pages to obtain the most from your day out.
  • Please note that socks must be worn in Shaggy’s PlayWorld, and there are some height and age restrictions on some of the activities such as the Sky Trail and Giant’s Rock climbing wall.
